Mine Automation Ergonomics Control Room

Ergowork was called upon to assist Northparkes Mine in NSW in upgrading the ergonomics of the control room and providing key specifications for remote control operators pods in the surface control room. The mine operates underground in a hazardous area and needed to remove operators from that zone and put in remote control diggers.

Our role involved drawing up a concept and outlining key dimensions and functionality which were then fed into a design by the architects. The initial analysis involved observing controllers, quantifying key tasks, assessing postures, movements and computer interactions. All of this information was then used to prepare a design concept which was evaluated by site personnel before acceptance, final design and fabrication.
